PURPOSE OF THE COMPLEX
The complex UIN 001 – 100/RT-S is designed for heat treatment of welded rail joints of lashes after their formation by the method of contact-butt welding in a stationary shop – a rail welding train (RSP). Heat treatment of welded joints consists in their heating to 850 – 900 ° C and subsequent hardening of the rail head in the place of the welded joint by cooling it with compressed air. The sole and neck of the rail are cooled naturally (in air). Such heat treatment ensures the strength and ductility of the welded rail joint, its survivability under intensive use, and reduces the tendency to brittle fracture during operation. As a result, the quality and reliability of the welded joint is increased, which leads to significant savings in the cost of repairing the tracks.
